Hey, do you have a site?
Think this an odd question for 2018? Think again. As of 2017, 21% of small businesses still didn’t have a website in the US. Now don’t let the small percentage fool you. There are almost 30 million small businesses in the US. That’s almost 6.3 million websites that don’t yet exist!
Furthermore, that’s just the US, one of the most digitally connected countries in the world. Its safe to assume as we widen our view to other countries that number grows.
It is true that not all companies have the resources to invest in a website. Some of the reported small businesses are side hustles and mildly lucrative hobbies. Some small companies are in their early years and lack the funds or may be going through a rough patch. Despite this though, it’s crucial not to dismiss the importance of an online presence.
Social Media is fantastic. At Web Kiosk we naturally endorse a healthy social media presence on select networks that align with your company's goals and audience. But we also believe that your limiting your company’s growth potential when you limit your web presence to just social media.
Many people liken a website to a business card. We’ve always thought of it as dressing business formal for a job interview. You don’t show up in a t-shirt and jeans. Instead you present your best self. Your website presents your best self. Social media only gets you part way there. You see it’s all about presence, and without a website, a home base, to back up your social media presence your business may potentially come off looking like a side hustle. If we are looking for a product or service, then the side hustle loses out to the committed business 9 times out of 10.

Right, right, right... all of that doesn’t matter when you don’t have the money to invest in an up to date, responsive, custom website. Like anything else though, we always have to start small and work out way up. There are DIY website builders available that can be helpful if your budget is small.
